Good Morning,

FUN FACT

The North Pacific gray whale, whales we watch in Tofino daily, faced challenges due to an unusual mortality event from 2018 to 2023, causing a decline to the whale’s population. However, encouragingly, the latest estimate in 2023/2024 indicates a positive recovery with an increase to 17,400 – 21,300 whales. It has been noted that for their well-being it crucial for researchers to continue monitoring their population and increase conservation efforts.
