Whale Watching Tours
Tofino’s waters, known as the Clayoquot Sound, are one of the best locations in the world for a whale tour as the waters are rich with food.
In fact, the whales gain over 30 percent of their body weight while feeding in our waters! Typically these are the types of whales you’d be most likely to spot on one of our Tofino whale watching tours.

Bear Watching Tours
Our Tofino bear watching tours begin with a relaxing 30-minute boat ride from Tofino through tranquil and sheltered inside passages by Meares
Island, Fortune Channel or Tofino Inlet. The black bears living in this West Coast region are sub- species with webbed paws that help them swim in the waters.

Hot Springs Cove Tour
Ahhh. You’ve arrived at Tofino’s Hot Springs Cove. You’re at the edge of the continent, backdropped by verdant rainforest with the wild Pacific Ocean .
Waves crash. Eagles soar. And you’re taking it all in from a sensuous pool of thermally heated rainwater—a secluded natural hot springs in an off-grid park in Tofino.
Private Chartered Tour WASCO
Sip on a cocktail while cruising along the shores and in sheltered areas of iconic Clayquot Sound with family and friends.
Or gather colleagues for a barbeque on the back deck of Nanuq before swimming in Cannery Bay. Or bring your special corporate group out on a private whale watch or cultural tour.
Bird Watching
Tofino and the Clayoquot Sound provide a world class bird watching environment due to the nutrition in the soil within this protected habitat.
Birds and their young can store the critical fats they need from the various organisms and worms found within the different habitats here of ocean, mudflats, rocky shorelines and old growth rainforest.
Sheltered Water ECO Tour
Cultural tours in Tofino and Clayoquot Sound give you access to the ancestral territory of the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations dating back thousands of years.
There are five local tribes locally as part of the Nuu-chah-nulth tribal council: Ahousaht, Hesquiaht, Tla-o-qui-aht, Toquaht, and Ucluelet.

Kristina Reimann2024-10-25Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What an amazing experience! Captain Jacky and her crew were just wonderful showing us sea otters, sea lions and grey whales on a cool but sunny October morning. We were really lucky and the whales came quite close. Truly beautiful! The boat was ideal with inside and outside seating and gliding smoothly through the water. The crew gave us a lot of background information. I would absolutely recommend West Aquatic Safaris! Taryn Marchi2024-10-24Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Captain Jacks and deck hand Gordon took us in an amazing whale tour today! They were so knowledgeable about the area and the animals they were taking us to see. They were very respectful towards the marine life and kept a safe distance so as not to cause the animals any stress. Once Jacks found the whales (whom she knew by name by looking at their markings), she turned the boat off and the whales continued to feed giving us an amazing show of water spouts and tail flips. Some of them even decided to swim about 100’ from the boat - almost like they knew the boat and were coming to say hello. We were so lucky to have such calm waters to allow for optimal viewing and were able to see otters and sea lions as well. I 100% would do this again and it was worth every penny. For anybody who is worried about accessibility issues, don’t be! They can accommodate all abilities and disabilities, all ages, and all shapes and all sizes. You do have to wear a life vest throughout the tour which are easily adjusted. I am a plus sized girl, was wearing several layers of clothing (long sleeve, hoodie, vest and a coat), and was able to wear the life vest no problem without an extender, but there are extenders available should you require one. The dock is a short walk from the shop, and there is ample parking in the immediate vicinity of the shop. Should you require accommodations for mobility issues, they have arrangements with the harbour allowing you to park close to the dock. Do not let your fears of body size, mobility, or disability deter you from experiencing what the beautiful northern coast of Vancouver Island has to offer! Josh Landry2024-10-16Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had an excellent trip to the natural hot springs with Captain Scott! He was thoughtful, explained the trip and safety protocols in detail and it was clear that he wanted us to have a good time. We would definitely recommend. Lovely tour with a great crew on board Chris Chok2024-10-15Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. August 2023: The best operation in Tofino—highly recommend! Keith and Theresia made checking in and getting set to go a breeze, and Captain Jax and Sydney were knowledgeable and awesome with the 9 kids we and our friends brought on board Nanuq. Would definitely go again. Fantastic way to spend an afternoon in Tofino! August 2024: We were fortunate enough to get back out with this amazing crew on our annual visit. A bear watching trip led to not only several bears, but also a pod of five orcas, a raft of otters, and a few eagles. The team were so great with our kids and their friends on board. A must do in Tofino! fatima s2024-10-15Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jax and Gordon was amazing! Personale molto cordiale Bryan Doyle2024-10-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a great time on this tour. If anyone is thinking about a whale watching tour and is not sure. Don’t hesitate to book with west coast aquatic safaris, they were friendly and very accommodating. Captain Jackie was great at stopping the boat and showing us otters sea lions and grey whales. Mia and Marcie were also very friendly and told us some fun facts about the island and what other things we should do on the island.
