Tofino cultural tours

Cultural tours in Tofino and Clayoquot Sound give you access to the ancestral territory of the Nuu-chah-nulth First Nations dating back thousands of years.

There are five local tribes locally as part of the Nuu-chah-nulth tribal council: Ahousaht, Hesquiaht, Tla-o-qui-aht, Toquaht, and Ucluelet. Directly across Tofino on Meares Island is the village of Opitsaht (Tla-o-qui-aht) that is thought to be over 5,000 years old.

The forests and waters of the region provided the Nuu-chah-nulth with salmon, cod, halibut and shellfish. Also, the Nuu-chah-nulth were one of the only tribes in the world that hunted grey whales.

Our Tofino cultural tours visit the traditional territories of the Nuu-chah-nulth while storytelling about their rich history and traditional way of life.
