Everyone Welcome

We applaud the Province’s new plan to make BC the most progressive place in Canada for people with disabilities by 2024.  West Coast Aquatic Safaris is committed to ensuring all guests have the opportunity to come out with us on a tour and view our region’s spectacular wildlife.  Our office and 36-passenger all weather boat, NANUQ, are wheelchair accessible.

Intertidal Treasures

Tuesday, November 27th, 2012

The bears have moved on from our beaches as they follow the salmon up the streams however there are still many amazing things to be found during those low tide periods of the day.

Low tides are a perfect time to head to the beach for some shell combing. What you may not know is all the shells you see were actually a home of a creature at some point. Hermit Crabs are found in intertidal zone in tide pools. Salvaging their empty shells, Hermit Crabs will carry them on their backs for protection from predators since they have long, soft abdomens. As the Hermit Crab grows larger, they must abandon shells in search for a larger one.

Accessible Pacific Rim

Friday, April 13th, 2012

West Coast Aquatic Safaris has had the most accessible whale watching vessel in Tofino since NANUQ was constructed just over 2 years ago. Some times good things just keep getting better and it is certainly the case today. We are very excited to announce that our custom fabricated ramp is now operational for all those boarding and disembarking our 36 passenger catamaran.

Speed, comfort and ease of access make this vessel the optimal wildlife vessel for your Pacific Rim experience. The ultimate family vessel just became even better for the entire family of all ages and abilities. Schedule times may vary for this vessel between the seasons so we always encourage those requiring the use of mobility assistance equipment to contact our office for the most up to date schedules and conditions.

We often have people ask questions about what to bring on our trips. While there is, of course, no right or wrong answer here are a few guidelines on what will be good to have when coming out on a trip with West Coast Aquatic Safaris.

What to wear…

And The Winner Is…

Saturday, March 31st, 2012

Well it has been one week since the Calgary Outdoor Adventure and Travel Show. Once again West Coast Aquatic Safaris would like to thank all of the people that stopped by to visit us at the show as well as taking the time to follow us on Facebook and Twitter. A Package like this is not possible without the very generous support of Tofino’s finest operators, restaurants and businesses.
