Jeff was born and raised in Tofino and has not yet left the island! His love for nature and water led him to our doorsteps and we are lucky to have such a great guide on board. His talents are not limited to boat driving; he can juggle but he promises not to do it when he is operating the boat.
After graduating from a Recreation and Leadership program in Ontario, Brent began a 12 year career as a youth worker and wilderness guide. 11 years ago Brent and his family left Ontario to pursue outdoor interests in and around the ocean, rivers and mountains of British Columbia. Four years ago Brent entered the tourism and hospitality field in a leadership role with two of the Pacific Rim’s finest resorts. Brent joined West Coast Aquatic Safaris as the Office Manager in early February and has recently completed a Post Graduate program in Strategic Human Resource Management with Royal Roads University. Brent brings his passion for the outdoors, our environment and a desire to connect all of our guests to an experience like no other.
Spending the first quarter of her life amongst the mountains of North Vancouver, Ashley has migrated further west to Tofino to pursue her love of surfing and sea culture. After numerous voyages on her father’s commercial crab fishing boat as a child, Ashley has always felt at ease with the ocean, while still remaining in awe of its power. Ashley has joined us at West Coast Aquatic Safaris to discover more about the nature around Vancouver Island in addition to enhancing her customer service. She looks forward to meeting lots of new faces, and being a part of introducing people to an ocean and its inhabitants worthy of protecting.
Born and raised in Ontario, Kayla headed west 2 years ago and has never looked back. Tofino is now home to this creative girl who can’t seem to put down her paintbrush! Kayla enjoys the great outdoors that Tofino has to offer and can often be found hiking, or just strolling the beach. Kayla can be found in the office at West Coast Aquatic Safaris, sharing all she knows about the island and what it has to offer!
Diana is a naturalist and biologist going on her third year here in Tofino. Originally from Alberta, the West coast has always provided a second home, sparking an early interest in marine life. After completing an animal biology degree, her Westward migration began with 2 years at a grey wolf conservation centre in the Rocky Mountains. In 2008 she finally reached the B.C. coast, to spend a summer leading high-adventure programs at an outdoor education centre. Regular surf trips inspired the fateful move to Tofino, where she soon found her niche working as a naturalist on bear and whale watching boats. During the past 2 winter seasons, Diana has also been working with the Hawaii Whale Research Foundation in Maui, studying the social behaviour of humpback whales. When she is not following whales around on their migration, she can be found relaying her knowledge and experiences as a naturalist on tours aboard Nanuq.
Keith has mastered the art of having his finger in every aspect of West Coast Aquatic Safaris. He is one of our Captains; most often you will see him behind the helm of our 36 passenger catamaran NANUQ, but don’t let him fool you, as every now and then he will take out our 12 passenger vessel WASCO! Keith has been with West Coast Aquatic Safaris since the beginning 2008, but don’t worry he has been driving boats for over a decade. He came to Tofino to live the surf culture life-style and is here to stay. Captain Keith can be describe as an Ecological Tourism Captain, nature lover, and a smiling friendly guy!
